New US President Donald Trump.

On November 8, Donald Trump became president-elect of the United States, however, he had to wait 10 weeks to officially enter the White House as the 45th president of the United States, according to Telegraph.

After the victory, he will begin preparations for the new administration, including finalizing the agenda for the first 100 days of his term.

He will name the White House chief of staff, select the national security team and build a cabinet – including secretaries of state, defense, treasury as well as justice.

Nominations are usually made within a few weeks of election day.

The first 100 days

On January 20, 2017, Mr. Trump will be sworn in outside the US Capitol.

At a campaign in late October, Mr. Trump said that on his first working day, he would announce whether the US wanted to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) or withdraw from the trade agreement.

Mr. Trump also told supporters that abolishing Mr. Obama’s health policy – ObamaCare is his top priority if he enters the White House.

He plans to deport illegal immigrants and take sanctions against countries that refuse to accept these citizens back.

The president-elect will propose a ban on White House and congressional officials from becoming lobbyists for five years.

Mr. Trump will nominate someone to replace the late Justice Scalia and he is likely to choose a conservative.

The President-elect believes that this first 100-day plan will restore prosperity to the economy, security to the community and honesty to the government.

‘Lame Duck’

Mr. Obama will still stay in the Oval Office after election day, but will become a `lame duck` president.

The term `lame duck` was used to describe a defaulter on the London Stock Exchange in the 18th century and later entered the American political lexicon, to refer to an official at the end of his term, when his successor had passed away.

Thus, after election day, Mr. Obama has 73 days to complete what he wants to do.
