(Dan Tri) – The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman on July 14 announced that Moscow is ready to expel US diplomats in the country in response to Washington’s hesitation to resolve the deadlock related to two foreign diplomatic compounds.

“The confiscated properties have not been returned.

Previously, the administration of former President Barack Obama decided in December last year to expel 35 Russian citizens suspected of being involved in US election interference, and at the same time closed two Russian diplomatic residences.

Ms. Zakharova said that while the issue of Russian diplomatic compounds in the US is still deadlocked and unresolved, at least Washington must allow Russian diplomats to enter and exit these compounds.

“We have taken a number of measures to respond to the US.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman did not specify the exact time Moscow would impose retaliatory measures against the US, but she emphasized that everything depends on the upcoming talks between the two delegations in Washington.

Hope for change under President Trump

According to Ms. Zakharova, the reason Russia did not respond to the US immediately after the US expelled Russian citizens and closed two Russian diplomatic compounds is because Moscow saw it as a `provocative` move by the Obama administration and wanted everyone to

“Half a year has passed but we have not seen any concrete steps.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia wants the US to unconditionally return the confiscated diplomatic compounds and that Washington setting any conditions for Moscow in this case is contrary to its principles.

The above statements from the Russian side were made after Deputy Assistant to the US President, Mr. Sebastian Gorka, said the US may return Russia’s diplomatic compounds if Washington sees `moves that demonstrate trust`.
