Kissa soon took the lead in the 10,000m race on the evening of July 30.

After the starting signal, Kissa quickly took the lead, then maintained that position for the first more than 6,000 meters.

According to Ugandan news site Kawowo, this is part of the general strategy of this country’s 10,000m running team.

Uganda has three athletes participating in the competition, including Kissa, Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo.

Based on the achievements of the three people, the Ugandan athletics team devised a strategy and chose Kissa to be the pacer and `decoy`.

On the Olympic track (Sapporo), Kissa did his best.

The gold medal belonged to Ethiopian runner Selemon Barega with 27 minutes 43 seconds 22.

`It’s just a sacrifice for collective achievement,` Kissa replied after the race.

The runner born in 1995 sacrificed himself for his teammates, standing behind the halo of the medal podium, receiving admiration from the online community.

@Bernard Sabiti said: `Everyone wants a Stephen Kissa in their life. A speedster who shows you the way, draws a path for you to shine, and confuses your opponents. They often just stand on their side.

Cheptegei and Kiplimo could not take advantage of the opportunity from Kissa’s sacrifice, finishing second and third respectively on the 10,000m race.

A Ugandan journalist, Abdu Dilshan Wasike, regretted that his two teammates could not take advantage of Kissa’s sacrifice to win the race.

Kissa is a member of the NN Running Team – a club that brings together the best long-distance runners in the world today such as Eliud Kipchoge, Stephen Kiprotich at marathon distance, and Cheptegei (10,000m), Prescious Mashele (5,000m).
