Man Utd has always closed the season with a closing ceremony, awarding internal awards to male, female and youth players for more than a decade.

But according to The Athletic, Man Utd’s leadership decided to cancel this ceremony after consulting with coach Erik ten Hag and the coaching staff.

Coach Erik ten Hag left Old Trafford after Man Utd lost 0-1 to Arsenal in round 37 of the Premier League on May 12.

Currently, Man Utd is going through an even worse season, empty-handed and ranked eighth in the Premier League.

Ten Hag and his team still have two Premier League matches against Newcastle on May 15 and Brighton on May 19.

`I think this is the worst Man Utd team I’ve ever seen in my life,` legendary Alan Shearer, born in 1970, said on The Rest Is Football podcast on May 13.

This season, Man Utd had a total of 68 injuries, but did not reach the top 3 of the Premier League in terms of the most matches with players absent due to injury.

`Man Utd has been in decline for such a long time that it will take another long time to come back,` Shearer added.

Former defender Micah Richards sympathized with Man Utd’s results, saying that young players like Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund were under great pressure.

Striker Alejandro Garnacho was disappointed after a missed shot in Man Utd’s 0-1 loss to Arsenal at Old Trafford in round 37 of the Premier League on May 12.

On Sky Sports, Wayne Rooney said that some of Man Utd’s injured players can actually play, but do not want to go on the field to face criticism.

Former captain Roy Keane shared this opinion, saying: `Obviously it’s not a good sign. I think a few players can try to play despite being injured. There are a lot of players at some stage.`
