Research firm YouGov BrandIndex has just announced a list of the 10 most famous brands in America.
In this consumer brand perception survey, YouGov BrandIndex interviewed 5,000 Americans every day.
1. Subway fast food chain
Score: 40.3
This is the third consecutive time the world’s largest fast food chain topped BrandIndex’s list with 40.3 points.
2. Amazon
Score: 36.8
This is the second year in a row Amazon has won this position.
3. Cheerios nutritional cereal
Score: 35.4
From 5th place in 2011, Cheerios has climbed two places this year.
4. History Channel historical television channel
Score: 33.8
History Channel regularly appears in the top 10 and is the only TV channel in the top group this year, while Discovery Channel dropped to 14th. The channel’s standout product in 2012 was Hatfields & McCoys, a ratings hit show.
5. Lowe’s home appliance retail chain
Score: 32.7
Up one level from last year, Lowe’s has equipped managers with iPads and iPhones for employees to handle consumer inquiries.
Accompanying this technology development trend, Lowe’s was honored with Innovative Design at the international consumer electronics exhibition (CES) and an honorable technical award for Iris Smart Kit, a device management kit.
6. Ford
Score: 32.1
Ford has moved up one place from the No. 7 position in 2011. The company was very bold in advertising the new car model without mentioning Ford’s name.
Without exaggeration, in 2012, Ford was still the only automaker to sell more than 2 million vehicles in the US, mainly thanks to the resounding success of the Ford Focus line.
7. Target retail chain
Score: 31.1
Target went from 9th to 7th place, although its score was slightly lower than in 2011. In its third year of reform and the second year of launching the 5% bonus, Target has been aggressive

8. Kindle (Amazon’s line of tablets and e-readers)
Score: 31
This is the first time Kindle has entered the top 10. According to Amazon, Kindle Fire HD version is Amazon’s number one best-selling product globally.
9. YouTube
Score: 30.9
After being acquired by Google, Youtube entered the rankings for the first time at number 9. 2012 saw Youtube’s first video reach 1 billion views, when PSY’s song Gangnam Style became a sensation.
10. Google
Score: 30.8
According to YouGov BrandIndex, Google dropped from No. 4 in 2011 to No. 10 in 2012. Google started 2012 with a series of personal security issues and poor Google operations.
Google has finalized an agreement with Motorola and increased cooperation with Samsung through more than 50 million tablets and phones using the Android operating system.
